12 Month Appointment (updated)

Update 2.13.09: Apparently Juliana has roseola. At her appointment Dr. Sarah mentioned that roseola was possibility. Roseola is characterized by high fever with few other symptoms. With roseola you break out in a rash about 12-24 hours after the fever breaks. Sure enough... the fever broke last night and the spots came on today. The rash isn't bothersome and it means she is pretty much over it. As of tomorrow she shouldn't even be contagious.

We had Juliana's 12 month appointment this morning. Actually, it was her 12 month appointment plus "lets check out this really high fever she's been running."

Juliana seems to have gotten the virus I had last week. High fever (up to 103 degrees) and no other real symptoms (besides being crabby, clingy and fussy... just like I was last week. Ha!) Dr. Sarah said there have been some viruses like that going around. We'll need to call again tomorrow if she is still way up there, but mostly Tylenol has been pretty effective in keeping the fever in check.

As for the regular 12 month stuff... Juliana is doing awesome developmentally. Her iron levels are great (no anemia.) She weighed 22lbs and 13oz. which puts her in the 75th percentile for weight. She is 31" so that puts her in the 90th percentile for height. I went to check out Gabriella's baby book to see how that compared with Gabriella at 12 months only to find that Gabriella didn't have a timely 12 month appointment. We were in the middle of a 2,000 mile move so that one kinda fell by the wayside. Oops.

Photo Tag

I was tagged by Kellie in photo tag.

Here are the rules-

1. Choose the fourth folder you store your pictures in on your computer (-I went with the second subfolder within the second folder.)

2. Select the fourth picture in the folder

3. Explain the picture

4. Tag four people to do the same

This was taken on Juliana's birthday. Our friends Travis and Kaycieann came over for lunch and Travis was helping Gabriella read the words on the bag of chips. Also, note that Gabriella decided she needed some super cool headwear.

I tag... Jenn, Andrea (again), Kirstin... Dear goodness! Who actually reads my blog that blogs? I never was very good at tag.

The Movie-Star Look

I was up all night last night battling a fever and some serious chills. This morning my temp was still only down to 101 with Tylenol so I am home from work today and taking it easy. The girls and Jonathan all feel fine so likely I brought home some fun virus from work.

Of course, resting doesn't prevent me from taking some time (inbetween long naps) to play with some pictures I've taken in photoshop. Particularly, I was playing with one of the pictures of Gabriella I posted in that Once Upon a Time post I did last week. I really wanted to up the drama (Gabriella is a drama queen after all.) This "vintage feel" image was probably my favorite play on it...

Gabriella looks a lot like me, but often she will really really remind me of my mom, especially in the eyes. In this photo in particular I see a lot of Mom in her.

My mom even had a name for this particular expression... she called it her "movie star look." You see a lot of it in younger pictures of mom where she really played it up. As an adult my mom laughed off the inherent drama of the "movie star look," but even as a child I remember thinking she was amazingly glamourous.

Our scanner isn't working so you'll have to forgive the very poor quality "picture of a picture," but here is a photo of mom when she was about 12.

One year old

One year ago today we met sweet Miss. Juliana Jayne for the first time. She was born at 1:58pm after an amazingly easy 4.5 hour labor. She weighed 7lbs 1oz and was 20" long.

Jonathan and I, with a seven minutes old Juliana...

Half an hour old and not thrilled about the poking, prodding and the new ankle bracelet. This expression should be familiar if you read the last blog post...

Four hours old and meeting Gabriella for the first time...

Seven hours old, exhausted and wishing that Mom would stop with the pictures already.

And today, one year old and finally getting a bite of chocolate cake...
